Slugterra VR is a vibrant cartoon themed team-based shooter set in the Slugterra universe, a cartoon world where you shoot Pokemon like Slugs from guns in competitive arena team duels. Every match is an intense pvp battle between a cast of unique heroes, each with a distinct arsenal of unique magic slugs loaded with personality and power. Compete as a team to win. Stephan Tanguay had the opportunity to contribute to ScaryGirl VR as game designer, developer and environment designer.
An epic large-scale free roam game from Dark Slope Studios is Scarygirl: Mission Maybee, a fully immersive 4-8 player, untethered free-roam VR game. The experience is 15 minutes in length and played in a 60’ x 30’ room scale environment with an advanced 6-point tracking system for each player that translates your movements into stunning animated avatars.
Stephan Tanguay had the pleasure of working with the National Film Board and Randall Okita as the solution designer and lead Virtual Reality artist / designer on The Book of Distance VR. This is an on going project that has recently passed the second phase of development ( prototype ) where I helped build a team, created technical and art pipeline, managed / built tools for several developers / artists. Stephan also was responsible for lighting, technical art, landscape designs, game engine related visual effects as well as leading the user experience and interaction design.
Stephan Tanguay was honored to work as a lead virtual reality game developer on CampfireVR for Jam3. Campfire VR is fun silly casual game with intuitive motion based game play and a foul mouthed sense of humor.

Stephan Tanguay was lucky enough to work as a technical artist on Blasters of the Universe. Blasters of the Universe is the first of its kind, bringing the “shmup” genre into VR. Intense gameplay is heavily reliant on physical movement, requiring the player to duck, dodge, twist, turn, and maneuver their way through waves of enemies and hundreds of bullets in a neon-tech inspired virtual reality experience.

Super Polygon Founder & CEO Stephan Tanguay had the pleasure of creating massive martian landscapes ( 4 KM squared ) for a virtual reality based multiplayer experience showcased at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show!
I was pretty lucky to work on this multiplayer virtual reality driving experience at Globacore for the Montreal and Toronto Auto Show. I created the track and environments based on satellite data from the Fuji Speed Way in Japan. Loads of fun to work on!

I had the pleasure of leading the game design, technology and project management while at Play Smart Labs to help build The Creativas a fantastic augmented reality fashion game for kids. It was wonderful to work and manage such a wonderful team to create a truly unique interactive experience for children that combines real world and digital play!

It was an pleasure working on this installation via Meld Media where I was the Technical Lead and User Experience Designer. The Mastodon augmented reality exhibit at the Waterloo Earth Sciences Museum transports museum patrons through time allowing them to observe the fossilization and discovery of a mastodon skeleton through history. The app uses the device camera to detect the mastodon mural on the second floor of the museum and projects an augmented reality experience on the device screen.

Wenda the Wacky Wiggler! The outstanding new interactive storybook app ( iOS ) will inspire kids and parents to celebrate and express their own unique selves! It was a joy to work on this project as the tech lead and user experience designer at Meld Media with Ken Reddick (project-lead) and John Lee (animator).

The Oculus Rift ( Virtual Reality ) showcase I built at Meld Media allows the user to transport themselves into a completely 3D stereoscopic 360 degree world where they actually feel like they are freely looking into the past. Its a powerful experience where you can really sense the massive scale of the Giganotosaurus the largest meat eating dinosaur to ever live! This showcase / installation was displayed at the Royal Ontario Museum with over 500 people experiencing it every day during a several week period over the holidays and was a massive success!

I was the senior unity3D game designer and tech lead for Time Tremors : Infinity a compelling trans media game where you fly through the dreaming woods of the CBC / ABC television series Time Tremors to unlock treasures and defeat the evil Ms Bugly. Big thanks goes out to the team at Xenophile Media. A lot of people worked really hard to make this happen. Its very exciting to see this cross platform game ( Web / iOS / Android ) finally released on all platforms.

I had the honour to work on the location based augmented reality adventure app “Time Tremors : AGO“. This mobile application transforms a visit to the AGO into an exciting interactive treasure hunt where even the artwork contains unique and exciting interactive experiences. My research prior to this project turned out to be the perfect fit combining the compellingly unique intellectual property of Time Tremors with cutting edge augmented reality and interactive technology. This app was designed and developed at Xenophile Media and will be deployed at other cultural institutions around the word with unique hunts for each institution.

iKids Award : Time Tremors AGO
The Ultimate Dinosaurs was an incredibly intense and fun iPad / iOS project to work on for the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto Canada. I had the pleasure of building two iPad apps installed on to 26 display panels each one with unique content. Visitors can explore evolutionary and geological stories by ‘swiping’ interactive touch based applications, with sound and HD video at various iPad stations positioned next to the dinosaur displays!

I had the pleasure of designing and developing the incredibly fun video game Nomatics available for iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and web browsers. The client was looking to create an engaging online experience loosely related to a television show called “What’s In A Name?” that would keep the brand alive and relevant long after the shows was being aired on History Television. In response to that request I created a fun action puzzle game using Unity3D an incredibly powerful game engine that allows you to create fantastic games that can be played on multiple platforms (xbox, playstation, wii, web, iOS, Android).

I was hired to create an After Effects animation to help visualize concepts of what Vindicia does for its customers. This project included tight deadlines and lots of communication with the customer the make sure the visuals really communicated what Vindicia does. Gregory Nersesian assisted me on this project ensuring every deadline was met ahead of schedule. The client was extremely happy with the results and the project was incredibly successful.

The Lost Girl : Interactive Motion Comic was an incredibly fun project to work on as I got to combine a lot of different skill sets in one project, design, programming and animation. Bedlam Games hired me to create an Interactive Motion Comic application in Flash, as the lead designer and programer I was responsible for the design and development of the entire application.
After I finished animating the dry run / pilot I designed and dveloped a video player capable of loading multiple video streams simultaneously. Users were prompted with different paths at key points in the story. The application was able to switch streams instantly by intelligently buffering the videos in the background.
It was a joy to work Tigh Walker a well known comic book artist who provided fantastic artwork, very talented writter Navid Khavari who wrote the script and animator Gregory Nersesian who did great job animating the project in After Effects. Paul Forest built new episodes by inserting new content and making minor code tweaks after I left to work on another project.

Produced award winning (Applied Arts Interactive Award : Best Single Campaign) interactive 3D driving experience using papervision3D and Action Script 3. Developed homepage Flash dynamic ad system and “Faces of Estee” interactive elements. The home page was developed so new product promos could be created entirely via XML. This project was completed while working at Organic and was their first Flash project to use ActionScript3.
